This workshop should only be booked if you have already attended a Get to know your sewing machine workshop or have a similar level of knowledge.
Topics covered will include;
Making simple patterns
Working with piping
You will have the choice in this workshop of making your own piped cushion with zip closure or making a snazzy cover for your sewing machine using all of the same techniques. Please note if you wish to make the machine cover we recommend that you bring any existing cover with you to help with matching the pattern.
For the cushion
You will need half a metre of fabric at least 140cm wide for the main cushion. The final cushion will be 40cm x 40cm. Please bring a zip which should be approx 35cm long and approx 2m of bias binding (minimum 2.5cm wide) and piping cord. You will also need a cushion pad.
For the sewing machine cover.
You will need approx 1m of fabric (approx 140cm wide), a coil zip minimum 40cm long, 5m of bias binding (min 2.5cm wide) and 2.25 metre of piping cord.
Remember that fabrics do not need to be new and off the roll. They can come from old clothes, bedding and furnishings. I am happy to advise regarding suitability and quantity if you are looking to use recycled ones.
We can provide a variety of threads for use. However, if you wish to colour match exactly I suggest that your source a reel prior to the workshop to be on the safe side.
