Leather - Learn to sew a leather clutch bag - Friday 23rd February 9:30am to 2pm
During the course of this workshop you will make your very own clutch bag from scratch using a normal domestic sewing machine. You will have a choice of brown or black leather and hardware can be silver, antique brass or gold.
Working with leather is very different to fabric for a number of reasons so come along to learn all the new techniques, tips and tricks. From cutting, preparing and stitching leather to fusing, bonding and using hardware such as rivets.
The bag will be finished with a wrist handle and a tassle which you will also make.
All leather, tools, bag making suppplies and hardware are provided. However to make your bag your own you are required to bring along a piece of fabric for the lining. This should be a light to medium weight cotton, if possible something with a bit of stability which will help the bag retain its structure but not anything too thick. You will need two pieces at least L 30cm x H 25cm.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who would like to learn to sew with leather but you must be able to already use a sewing machine.
If you are bringing your own machine please note that we will be using teflon feet. We will have a supply of universal snap on feet but please check if you machine needs a specific type of foot. One of our machines can be used if there are any issues.
This workshop is being led by Rebecca.
