Ellie is a talented local textile artist and her work is often inspired by her natural surroundings.
Ellie uses techniques such as free-motion embroidery and printing with plants.
With her experience and incredibly mindful practice, it’s no wonder her workshops are so popular…
How did you find the tutor?
“I found Ellie to be welcoming and professional. She was clearly knowledgeable, explained the plan for the day, and reassured us that each new skill would be attainable.”
How did it feel?
“Well structured, relaxed, achievable but also a new challenge.”
What did you take home at the end of the session?
“Confidence to explore this new craft further. Enjoyed spending the day with other craft enthusiasts.”
What was the structure of the day?
“Ellie talked about her background and what we would be covering in the course. She broke the process down into achievable steps. She started us off and offered us refreshments.
She gave each of us time to complete the steps, demonstrating each step for us.
During the morning we chose and mounted our fabrics, and then mono printed onto our fabrics.
We broke for lunch.
During the afternoon we designed our embroidery, Ellie set up the sewing machines for us, and we free motion embroidered our pictures.“
Would you recommend it?
“The Made and Making studio is such an inspiring place to be. You are surrounded by inspiration with all the makes on show. The tutors I have met have been very welcoming and supportive, relaxed but professional.
I feel that the range of courses offer something for the experienced crafter to develop their practice, but also for new-comers who may not feel they are particularly creative.
You won’t be able to resist becoming immersed and will be fully supported and encouraged.”
