Autumn felt wreath
This is a great workshop combing both methods of felting! Yes! Did you know there are two types of felting, wet felting and needle felting? In this workshop we will cover both.
Wet felting involves the use of heat, moisture and friction to create a fabric from the wool fibres whilst needle felting using a special tool to tangle and condense the wool fibres into a more solid form.
During this class you will have chance to do both, perhaps working out which you like most? The leaves are wet felted into shape and then the detailing is needle felted.
What will we cover?
In the morning you will learn the wet method of felting to make the leaves. This involves some rubbing and rolling which can be quite physical!
And then in the afternoon you will be introduced to the therapeutic technique of needle felting to add details and also to make the acorns and pumpkin.
You will then be shown the best way to attach them in your chosen design to the pre-made 20cm wreath.
How will I be taught?
In our light and airy studio by our experienced tutor. And there is no such thing as a silly question!
Do I need any previous experience or skills?
This workshop is suitable for beginners or those who have some felting experience. Fun for everyone!

All materials are provided, so just relax and turn up.

Tutor
Suzy is an accomplished and experienced felt maker. She uses both wet and needle felting techniques to produce accessories, toys, jewellery and ornaments, and thoroughly enjoys sharing the possibilities that felt making has to offer. She is also a keen sewer, and produces her own jewellery designs. Suzy has been a schoolteacher since 1997, and has been a subject leader for craft, design and technology. She currently combines her long-standing interest in crafts with part-time teaching and a busy family life in Hassocks.
