What will we cover?

During the workshop you will get chance to work from one of our designs to create your own project. All of the designs are great ways to use up your fabric scraps.

Once your design is cut out we will talk you through the best ways to apply your bias strip, thinking about start and finish points, joining, going round bends and also more angular outlines too. We will also talk you through how to create your own fusible bias strips to open up a world of creativity.

With the design completed, which will be the front of your cushion, you will then turn your piece into a cushion cover, including adding a zip using our favourite fool proof technique!

How will I be taught?

You will be taught in our friendly and inspiring studio in a relaxed fashion. There are no silly questions in the Made and Making studio so you can arrive and relax and work at your own pace on your project with full, clear instruction.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

This project is completely beginner friendly.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

You will need to bring the following with you;

A selection of fabric scraps for the design on the cushion front

16″ square of background fabric for the cushion front

Two pieces of fabric for the back of the cushion; one 14″ tall x 16″ wide and one 6″ tall x 16″ wide

Clover quick bias fusible tape 6mm wide in your choice of colour

1 x 18″ zip

What will I take home with me?

You will take home a cushion cover with your choice of bias strip appliqué design. You will also go home with all the knowledge to explore and develop your skills in this technique.
