This workshop is a brilliant opportunity to introduce your child to a sewing machine. Sewing is a life skill and a wonderful skill to gift.

In this session your child will make a colourful patchwork zipped pouch, perfect for holding all those essentials. We will explain how a sewing machine works and how to sew (with an emphasis on beginning, finishing and respecting your seam allowance). This is a great project for the beginner.

All you need to do is drop them off, all materials are provided.

Our tutor is DBS checked.

This session is open to 8 years and over.

What will we cover?

During the session we will explain how a sewing machine works,  how to sew (with an emphasis on beginning, finishing and respecting your seam allowance) and how to insert a zip.

This is a great project for the beginner and a good introduction to simple patchwork.

How will I be taught?

Your child will be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced children’s tutor, through demonstration and guidance as they work.

 

With the opportunity to ask questions throughout, your child will get the best experience they can whilst making sure everything is clear.

 

Our tutor is DBS checked.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

This workshop is open to 8 years and over and is the perfect opportunity for your child to be introduced to a sewing machine.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

You do not need to have a sewing machine as we will be using the machines in our studio.

All materials are provided.

What will I take home with me?

Their own handmade patchwork zipped pouch

Karen has always enjoyed sewing and even as a child was cutting up small amounts of fabric to make dolls clothes. Karen spent many years working in soft furnishings before going on to working in an education environment, first as Primary school teaching assistant then running an after school and holiday club. She now loves sewing patchwork and always has several different sewing and knitting projects on the go!
