What will we cover?

You will learn how to use and cut a pre-designed project from Cricut Design Space, to work with iron-on (also known as heat transfer vinyl) material, to utilise a heat press, to make the perfect bow, and to assemble/decorate your banner with faux foliage.

How will I be taught?

You’ll be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor and official local Cricut Ambassador through live demonstration and guidance as you work. There will be visual aids such as a projector and large screen while teaching Design Space basics along with summarised written instructions.

You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear, and that you’re getting the best results you can.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

All beginners and Cricuteers are welcome! While we will be learning the basics of Cricut cutting machines and heat presses, all skill sets will find something enjoyable as we make a beautiful festive banner together alongside some crafty chat.

If you want to make the project as seen in the workshop photos, there will be pre-cut iron-on designs for you to choose from, so all you have to do is weed, press, and decorate!

For those who want to choose from a couple of different personalised designs, these can be chosen on the day-of from a variety of gorgeous iron-on materials available (including foil, metallic, holographic, and more). Creativity is accessible to all!

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

All project materials and usage of heat press machines and tools are included in your workshop fee. You’ll absolutely love the British handmade fabric banners sewn specially just for us by woman-run small business, Peppermint Fizz!

If you are an advanced Cricut user and would like to create your own banner design in Design Space or go wild with your iron-on colour choices, please bring your own Cricut machine with you as well as the free Cricut Design Space app pre-downloaded on your device of choice.

If you’re new to Cricut crafting, please visit this page for instructions on ‘How to Download Cricut Design Space’ (https://help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009428814-Downloading-and-Installing-Design-Space) for your specific mobile or laptop device. There will be a couple of machines you can connect to if needed.

If you have low vision, please let Chelsea know ahead of time so she can adjust her projector screens and bring additional craft tool support for you. You may also want to bring a magnifying tool as some iron-on types may be more of a challenge to weed than others.

Should you want your own to use and keep, brand new basic weeding tools will also be available to purchase on the day.

What will I take home with me?

By the end of our session, you’ll take home a finished and styled Christmas-inspired fabric banner ready to be hung in your home for the festive season ahead and have made some new local Cricut-loving friends!
