Crochet Socks with Coastal Crochet

crochet socks workshop

Not a knitter but been thinking about socks? We’ve got the answer……

We are delighted to be inviting  the lovely Eleonora aka Coastal crochet to join us and teaching us how to make a pair of cosy crocheted socks. Socks don’t just have to be knitted and learning how to crochet them might be slightly easier that you think. Using her own pattern Eleonora will guide you through the process from start to finish including turning the heel which is the stage that sometimes foxes folk!

What will we cover?

Eleonora will take you through all the steps and stitches you need to make this pair of cosy crochet socks. Stitches covered will invoice front and back post trebles, back post half trebles as well as standard trebles, doubles and chain stitches.

How will I be taught?

In our light and airy studio by a very experienced crochet teacher and designer

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

This workshop is suitable for competent beginners, including those that have attended our beginners’ crochet workshop or similar

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

Please bring one 100g ball of DK weight yarn which is enough to make at least one pair of socks. We have used a colour changing yarn but the choice is yours.

Here are a few yarn suggestions:

  • James C Brett ‘Aurora’ DK (80 % acrylic, 20% wool, 100g/345m)
  • Opal X- Large 8ply (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 150g/320m)
  • Emu Funfair ‘Helter Skelter’ DK (100% acrylic, 100g/360m)
  • West Yorkshire Spinners ‘Colour Lab’ DK (100% wool, 100g/225m)

A 4.00 or 4.5mm hook (depending on tension) and 10 stitch markers.

What will I take home with me?

Depending on your crochet speed you will have finished at least one sock or made a jolly good start! You will also have a written pattern to take away to finish off your pair at home.

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
