Sustainable sewing – denim hexagon tote bag
I absolutely love denim. I love wearing it and I love using it. It can often be my ‘go to’ fabric when I’m making new samples. It always looks good and it looks good put with anything else. One of the best things about denim is how timeless it is. Always in fashion and never more so than in the spring and summer.
Our love for denim means that we use a lot of it and, by consequence, there is a lot that is that ends up waiting to be scrapped. So we’re running this workshop designed around reusing the scraps but making something timeless, useful and fun too. Not only are we supplying the scrap denim but everything else that is needed to make this brilliant bag. So why not book yourself in and enjoy a really fun day in our studio.

What will we cover?
The denim hexagon bag is all about repurposing this wonderful fabric. We will show you how to make the most of your preloved denim garments and then you will cut hexagons from our selection of different denims available. We’ll show you how to construct a strong, lined bag and sew the hexagons on to fabric to make the outside of the bag. You will learn simple bag making skills and make a useful tote bag.
How will I be taught?
You’ll be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor, through demonstration and guidance as you work.
You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear and that you’re getting the best results you can.
Do I need any previous experience or skills?
This workshop is suitable for beginners to bag making or anyone who wants to make this fun design.
Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?
All materials are provided.
We have a significant stash of denim so you don’t need to worry about sourcing and bringing any along. However, if you’ve been accumulating your own special denim stash, or have a prized piece you would like to include, you can of course work with that on the day.
What will I take home with me?
Your very own denim hexagon bag and all the knowledge you need to make more or similar at home.
Refreshments
Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.
Photography
During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
