Fat Quarter Project Day

Fat quarter project day

Everybody loves a day of making useful things so we thought we’d bring our fat quarter projects to life in this day workshop.

Spend a fun day with us working through different projects making a selection of useful pouches and a storage tub.

We’ll take you through each project step by step and you’ll have a full instruction booklet to take home. Plus you will also have access to a video class for each project so that you can repeat the makes at home with all the support you need.

What will we cover?

During the course of making your projects we will take you through each project step by step and share with you skills needed for, amongst other things;

simple quilting

applying binding

inserting zips

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by our experienced tutor in our light and airy studio. We create a warm and friendly environment where there are no silly questions.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

This is the perfect sewing day for anyone new to sewing, it’s very beginner friendly, or anyone wishing to have a productive day in like minded company.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

In order to make the most of the session please bring the following already cut:

For the fabric box:

Two 15″ squares (one for the outside and one for the inside)

One 14 1/2″ square of wadding

For the Strippy pouch:

A zip at least 13 1/4″ long (we can easily shorten a longer one)

Four pieces of flannel or wadding  7.5″ x 9 3/4″”  (to apply the strips onto)]

Two pieces 14″ x 9 3/4″ for lining

An assortment of 1.5″ wide strips at least 11″ long

Two pieces of fabric 2″ x 1 1/2″ for zip tabs

For the 2-zip pouch:

Two pieces of fabric 8 1/2″ x 18″

Two fabric strips 2 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ for binding

Wadding 10″ x 17″

Please measure your laptop/ tablet/ other device so we can make the pouch to fit. We will cut the fabric for this project in the workshop. You will need:

Three fat quarters (unless you’re device is bigger than a fat quarter folded in half, in which case please bring more fabric!)

A 25″ square of waddding

A zip the length of your device plus 4″

What will I take home with me?

You will take home all your finished projects plus a pattern booklet and full access to the video tutorials. Of course this does all depend on how much chatting you do!

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
