Seasonal felt wreath workshop – The Witches’ Friends Autumn & Halloween Wreath

Join us and celebrate the changing of the seasons making this sustainable cute 36cm-40cm full and fabulous felt Autumn wreath covered with fun whimsical characters. ‘Witches go riding, black cats are seen, the Moon laughs and whispers ’tis near Halloween!’

Friends of every Witch sit in toadstool patches; a toad wearing a witch’s hat, a black cat stretching and another winking while sitting on a broom. Make your wreath to take pride of place at the heart of your Autumnal and Halloween decorations and wow your friends and family with a welcoming heirloom decoration which can be brought out year after year.

During the Witches’ Friends Autumn & Halloween Wreath workshop you will learn the technique to make the wreath base and some of the elements from the wreath decoration. If you have more time, you can make more from the techniques taught.

At the workshop you will receive a kit which contains everything you see on the wreath but note that you will need to work at home after the workshop to finish the whole decoration as heirloom pieces take time!

The felt used in this project are wool blends 30% – 40% Wool mixed with Rayon. *Note wool colours and blends will vary dependent on stocks.

What will we cover?

Wreaths have long been used to celebrate the changing of the seasons. Join us to make this glorious 36cm-40cm felt autumn wreath, covered with fun whimsical characters.

At the Witches’ Friends Autumn & Halloween Wreath workshop you’ll receive a kit containing everything you need to make:

  • one felt wreath
  • two black cats
  • one toad
  • three orange toadstools
  • five red toadstools
  • four maroon toadstools
  • one witch’s broom
  • one witch’s hat
  • lots of lovely leaves!

We’ll first look at how to form the wreath base. You’ll then make as many of the different characters and other design elements as time allows.

Please note that you’ll need to complete the decoration work at home, using the techniques you’ve learnt.  Heirloom pieces take time!

How will I be taught?

You’ll be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor, through demonstration and guidance as you work.

You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear and that you’re getting the best results you can.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

You’ll need to be able to use a sewing machine to join this workshop.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

You’ll need to bring:

    • a bag of polyester toy stuffing (available from suppliers such as Amazon and Hobbycraft)
  • a basic sewing kit, including scissors and embroidery/sewing needles
  • sewing thread

You can choose whether to bring your own sewing machine or to borrow one of ours.

We’ll provide:

  • 13 pieces of wool felt in a beautiful soft palette of muted shades
  • DMC embroidery floss in contrasting colours for decorative embroidery
  • 100cm of grey ribbon
  • 150cm black cotton ricrac
  • 25g light beige roving wool felt
  • 25g dark brown roving wool felt
  • 25g pink roving wool felt
  • embroidery needle and felting needle

…all contained in a handy cotton drawstring bag.

The felt used is 30% – 40% wool mixed with Rayon. Please note that wool colours and blends will vary dependent on stocks.

What will I take home with me?

You’ll leave with a variety of the elements for your wreath, and the skills to finish it off at home. Clear the table, make a cuppa and enjoy that satisfying final stage!

Don’t worry, you’ll have a detailed instruction booklet to refer to, as well as full-sized pattern templates.

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
