Goldwork embroidery

Goldwork embroidery workshop

Price includes a full kit RRP £25.

Join embroiderer Becky Hogg on this one day workshop to stitch a delicious Strawberry brooch/decoration inspired by the William Morris design ‘Strawberry Thief’.
Strawberry Thief was first produced in 1883 and was inspired by William Morris’s observation of the thrushes creeping under the strawberry nets to steal the fruit in the garden of his Oxfordshire home, Kelmscott Manor. It remains one of his most popular designs today.
Now you can have  your own little piece of the pattern in the form of a Strawberry brooch or decoration embroidered with metal threads in red, gold, pink and blue. In this hand embroidery workshop you will learn stitches including Couching, Cutwork loops and Pearl purl edges, and finish it off with 3D silk purl leaves in the blue of the original print. Once complete the embroidery can be cut out, backed and made into a decorative hanging or brooch measuring approximately 3.5×5.5cm.
