Goldwork embroidery – Hastings Mackerel

Price includes a full kit RRP £40
Join Becky on this one day workshop and you will learn how to embroiderer a shimmering Mackerel, or Rainbow Trout . This can be turned into a brooch, a necklace, or hanging decoration. Approximate finished size 8x2cm.
Each fish is hand embroidered in the metal thread embroidery technique also known as Goldwork. In this style of embroidery all the metal threads are held on the surface of the material with a sewing thread as the metals are too delicate or too thick to pass through. You will learn a variety of gold work embroidery techniques.
You will learn how to apply metal threads such as Passing, Pearl purl and other fine wires. They are used to create pattern and texture over a felt padded surface.
Once the embroidery is complete your fish can be cut out and backed with a pre cut metallic silver plywood, for jewellery or a decoration.
This workshop is suitable for a beginner to this technique. Becky will demonstrate each step with a series of group demonstrations and individual help where needed.
