Jungleview quilt top – foundation paper piecing class

We are delighted to be running this patchwork class based on  foundation paper piecing (FPP). We will be  using this amazing quilt pattern by Sarah Elizabeth Sharp. Included in your ticket price is a copy of her book containing the pattern for this class.

Foundation paper piecing is a patchwork technique which helps with achieving precision. It also  allows more complicated shapes to be successfully pieced.  The monstera leaf lends itself beautifully to this sort of project.

During the course of this workshop we will take you through the foundation paper piecing technique. This involves using a paper as a base for your patchwork but we will use wax paper, rather than normal paper. This means we don’t have to constantly pick papers out and can reuse the same papers time and time again.

This is a wonderful quilt to make using scraps.  You can of course purchase a selection of green fabrics. The best way to do this will be to buy  fat quarters and fat eights to ensure a wide variety. For the back ground we suggest low volume prints or pale blenders. If you are not familiar with these terms both of these give a pale contrast to the main green of the leaves.

We will be working to create a quilt top 40″ wide by 50″ tall. If you would like to make it bigger we can show you how to do that,  just remember to buy more fabrics. Although the lovely thing about this quilt is that it can be made a lot of different ones so no need to worry if you run out.

Please note that you will not complete the quilt top during the class but you will become confident with the technique, learn time saving tricks and all our top tips.

Included in the price of this workshop is a copy of Sarah’s book  Adventures in paper piecing & design which contains a number of gorgeous FPP patterns.  If you are feeling adventurous,  it is also a brilliant process guide to creating foundation paper piecing designs of your own.
