Beginners knitting – Knit a bobble hat

Bobbly hat
Have you spotted how many people are learning to knit to create a little mindfulness in their day? Did you spot Tom Daley at the olympics? Well now is your chance.
You’ll learn how to do a fancy cast-on called the ‘long tail’ which makes the hat band nice and stretchy. We’ll do rib stitch which makes it grippy, stocking stitch for the main body of the hat and decreasing along the way to make the hat shape. We’ll all be making a big bobble for the top too. No experience necessary and we’ll take you through it step by step in our relaxing studio.
And it’s not just a cool life skill that you get to take home, you will also get:
– a screen printed tote bag
– Chunky knitting needles
– Yarn
– Tapestry Needle
– Bobble Maker
– Bobble hat pattern
Perfect for beginners or intermediate knitters and all materials are provided.

Hannah Packwood

Hannah has lloved knitting since she learned as a kid, but about 20 years ago she started knitting toys and baby clothes. When lockdown hit she decided she wanted to knit herself something to wear, so she knitted a jumper, then another one, and she was hooked again. And when she started knitting bobble hats, everyone loved them so much that she decided she wanted to share the skills with other crafty folk and bring the bobble joy to as many people as possible. She started @the_knit_girl in 2020 and now knits bespoke mohair jumpers and cardigans and sells knitting kits too. She absolutely love knitting; the colours, the yarns, the patterns, the workshops and teaching, and most of all the smiles on the faces of the proud students when they wear their bobble hats home.
