Landscape Collage Workshop

collage workshop

Collaging is a classic and something that we love at Made and Making. It’s a chance to work with very simple materials and create amazing artwork. Don’t worry about needing drawing skills, working with collage papers is a completely different way of creating art. There are so many styles of collage and we are delighted to be hosting local artist and illustrator Ruth Waters to our studio to lead this landscape collage workshop. She brings with her her own individual styles and techniques for collage which she will share during the course of the session.

What will we cover?

The beginning of the workshop will cover techniques for creating your own collage papers. You will be shown how to decorate papers using a variety of techniques so that you create a range of paper with different textures and effects adding depth to your final collage.

During the second part of the workshop you will use these papers, plus any that you may have brought with you, to create your own landscape inspired collage.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by Ruth Waters, our friendly, experienced tutor in our light, airy studio. She will share her own developed techniques as a practising artist.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

One of the wonderful things about collage is that you don’t need any previous experience. Ruth will show you, and guide you through, everything you need to know.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

This is a ‘turn up and enjoy’ style workshop. We’re making it easy as all materials are provided, you are of course, welcome to bring any collage papers you may have. If you wish to collage a particular landscape you could bring a picture or photo along for inspiration.

What will I take home with me?

By the end of the session you will be adept at making your own papers, techniques relevant to a variety of collage styles. You will also have your very own unique collage of your chosen real, or imaginary, landscape. Perfect for gifting or displaying in your own home.

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
