You and your child* will each make a clever, fun pouch with two zips that can be used for many things, from pens and pencils to cosmetics or craft supplies.

Aimed at ages 8 and up, it’s a brilliant opportunity to spend time with someone important to you while you both learn a valuable life skill.

*Of course this may be your grandchild, step-child, niece or nephew, or another special child in your life.

What will we cover?

You’ll learn simple quilting skills, a clever zip insertion technique and how to attach binding.


We’ll explain how a sewing machine works and how to use it, with an emphasis on beginning, finishing and respecting your seam allowance. 


You’ll both have your own sewing machine and will work on your own projects. 

How will I be taught?

You’ll be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor, through demonstration and guidance as you work. 


You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear and that you’re getting the best results you can. 


Do I need any previous experience or skills?

This workshop is suitable for beginners upwards. Open to 8 years and older. 


Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

All materials are provided.


What will I take home with me?

You’ll both leave with an awesome two-zip pouch. 



Drinks and biscuits will be available.

Sarah Brangwyn

Owner of Made and Making, Sarah has been sewing all her life. Her passion is helping others to gain the same level of enjoyment from mastering these creative skills. She's known for her infectious enthusiasm, her endless knowledge and for her knack for explaining things clearly, leading to lots of 'aha!' moments. In a previous life, Sarah was a branch manager in an insurance firm. Taking redundancy in 2012 allowed her to follow her dream of creating a hub for sewing and craft. At Made and Making Sarah teaches sewing, crochet, needle felting and other craft courses. She's also one of the tutors for the children's workshops. When family life allows, Sarah loves nothing more than immersing herself in her own projects.
