Patchwork with Carolyn Forster – Lined Circles

Lined Circles Carolyn Forster

We are delighted to be welcoming patchwork expert Carolyn Forster back to our studio with this fabulous ‘quilt as you go’ project.

For many the thought of quilting a large finished quilt top can be really daunting. ‘Quilt as you go’ techniques take away this challenge and there are so many to choose from. They allow you to work on a more piecemeal basis negating the need for trying to put a whole quilt top through the throat of your sewing machine. They also mean that you are dealing with much smaller sections of patchwork and quilting allowing you much greater control over the fabrics and also the possibility of taking your project with you wherever you go.

What will we cover?

In this ‘quilt as you go’ workshop Carolyn will share you with you her techniques for creating this beautiful circular design which can be made into any size project you like. Yes we did say circular, but don’t be scared. These circles are not intimidating and the lovely curves are very achievable.

The class is suitable for both a beginner and more accomplished patchwork student and will be a wonderfully relaxing day of working with colour and techniques so you can take home a wonderful sample piece to continue to build on.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught is our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor, through demonstration and guidance as you work.

You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear and that you’re getting the best results you can.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

This workshop is suitable for a beginner as well as a more accomplished patchwork student.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

You will need to bring along a variety of fabrics and some wadding. We suggest that you use 100% cotton fabrics but these can be new ‘off the bolt’, from your stash or reclaimed. The exact quantities will depend on how big you would like you project to end up and we can provide more specific advice on that during the class. If you are looking to make a larger project then we would advise working with new fabrics where additional quantities can be bought. Unless of course you are going happy scrappy!

What will I take home with me?

You will take home your own Lined Circles sample along with the skills and inspiration to build on it further.

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
