Pockets Masterclass

pockets masterclass

At Made & Making we are all in agreement that every garment needs pockets!

They don’t have to be complicated, in fact, most pockets can be added to a garment very easily with just a little extra fabric and a few more steps of construction.

On this pockets masterclass we’ll look at the many different types of pockets and how these can be applied to both garments and bags.

9:30 am - 2:30 pm

What will we cover?

You’ll learn how to construct a number of pockets including:

Patch Pocket

In-Seam Pocket

Hip / Jeans Pocket

Welt Pocket

Bound Pocket

How will I be taught?

You’ll be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor, through demonstration and guidance as you work.

You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear and that you’re getting the best results you can.

Do I need any previous experience or skills?

It’s essential that you’re already confident using your sewing machine. You’ll need to have attended our Get to know your sewing machine course or have a similar level of knowledge.

Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?

We’ll provide all the fabric but please bring with you a note book, your sewing kit (to include fabric scissors and snips, pinking shears (if you have them), pins, quick unpick tool, hand sewing needles and thread.) If you’re bringing your own sewing machine please make sure you’ve got your power cable and foot pedal.

What will I take home with me?

By the end of the workshop you will have samples of each pocket technique to take home.

You’ll also be provided with a handout for each of the pocket techniques and you’ll have access to a video tutorial which you can refer to as often as you choose.

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
