Pressed flowers art
Many people remember pressing flowers in their childhood years but have long left it behind.
Why not come along to this workshop to enjoy trying out some techniques and designs and pick up modern day tips for crafting with real pressed flowers?
You will work with a selection of pressed flowers and leaves to create similar items and designs to those shown.
The exact selection of pressed material and items may vary slightly depending on the season and availability.
Crafting with pressed flowers is a great way to craft without needing to invest in specialised equipment. You can make cards and decorate inexpensive items using pressed materials from gardens and hedgerows.

What will we cover?
You will craft designs ranging from a smaller scale item like the keyring up to using larger flowers and leaves for greetings cards and the concertina card in a box. You will be guided how best to handle and arrange pressed botanicals to create pleasing designs. We will touch on some basic design principles as well as discussing which glues to use and options for protecting your designs. During the workshop you will be hands on and use two different methods for sealing your work.
As you work the tutor will share information about modern ways of pressing and storing pressed flowers.
How will I be taught?
Jenny will share techniques and tips for crafting with pressed flowers and leaves and provide input and guidance as you create your own design.
Do I need any previous experience or skills?
Suitable for anyone interested in crafting. You must be able to hold and manipulate tweezers, as pressed flowers are too delicate for fingers. Don’t forget to bring your glasses if you need them for close work.
Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?
All materials will be provided, including pressed flowers. You are welcome to bring some of your own pressed items to use if you like. We will be using small scissors and flat ended tweezers. If you have your own that you like to use, please bring them along. Otherwise, you can use our scissors & tweezers.
What will I take home with me?
Refreshments
Drinks and biscuits will be available
“I attended the pressed flower workshop with Jenny yesterday. It was excellent beyond my expectations – which are already high when I’m coming to Made and Making! Jenny went above and behind in all aspects of the workshop – preparation, projects, selection of materials especially flowers, patience and more – we all went away with beautiful items.”

At home, Jenny works as a gardener and enjoys being outdoors.
