Reduction lino printing
In this two-day workshop you’ll create multi-colour prints using the reduction method of printmaking. Come and learn this exciting technique from local artist Sue Collins.
Reduction lino cutting is a relief printmaking technique which involves cutting and printing several layers of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image. You will be destroying the block in the process.
What will we cover?
If you’ve enjoyed exploring lino printing, perhaps on our introductory course, this is an ideal way to take your skills further.
Reduction lino printing involves cutting and printing several layers of colour from the same block of lino. Building up the image, in stages, eventually destroys the block.
You’ll be using water-based inks and soft cut vinyl lino which is easy to clean, cut and print from. This gives you the freedom to make an expressive print.
How will I be taught?
You’ll be taught in our lovely studio by a friendly and experienced tutor, through demonstration and guidance as you work.
You’ll also be able to ask questions, making sure everything is clear and that you’re getting the best results you can.
Do I need any previous experience or skills?
Yes, you need to have attended an introductory lino print course, or have a similar level of experience.
Are materials provided? Is there anything I need to source myself?
All materials are provided, but it’s a good idea to bring along a few images as inspiration.
What will I take home with me?
You’ll leave with your fabulous, unique printed artwork.
Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.
During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
