Somerset Patchwork
Somerset patchwork or the folded star technique is popular for its many uses. From full blown stars to simple chevrons it makes a stunning effect.
Join us for a morning, with everything supplied, to have a go yourself. We will work through the technique and will make a simple pot holder which will also enable us to look at binding on a different shape to a rectangular quilt.
What will we cover?
During this session we will look at and learn the process for creating a piece of Somerset patchwork and then work on binding an octagon shape
How will I be taught?
In our light and airy studio by our experienced sewing tutor.
Do I need any previous experience or skills?
No experience is needed to learn this technique but you are expected to be familiar with how to use a sewing machine.

Tutor
Owner of Made and Making, Sarah has been sewing all her life. Her passion is helping others to gain the same level of enjoyment from mastering these creative skills. She's known for her infectious enthusiasm, her endless knowledge and for her knack for explaining things clearly, leading to lots of 'aha!' moments. You may have seen her share some of those on the TV channel Sewing Street. In a previous life, Sarah was a branch manager in an insurance firm. Taking redundancy in 2012 allowed her to follow her dream of creating a hub for sewing and craft. At Made and Making Sarah teaches sewing, crochet, needle felting and other craft courses. She's also one of the tutors for the children's workshops. When family life allows, Sarah loves nothing more than immersing herself in her own projects.
