Stitchscape festive decoration

christmas embroidery workshop

Start the Christmas cheer early and enjoy a relaxing workshop hand stitching your own hoop decoration for the tree! Full of sparkle and with simple hand embroidery stitches, this is a lovely project to get you into a festive mood and is easily completed by Christmas.

Using pre-printed or coloured cotton fabrics each layer is treated with different embroidery stitches ranging from simple straight stitches to slightly more advanced bullion knots so this is a perfect day out for embroiderers of all skill levels. The embroidery style is a free-for-all and with a ‘no-right-or-wrong’ attitude, this is a great session to come and give hand embroidery a go. There is a pattern to follow if you wish, or you can take inspiration from the original design and go wild with your own creation.

If you aren’t confident in cutting your own shapes there will be templates to follow and instruction pages on how to complete each layer.

Wear your best festive jumper and let’s get stitching!

Beth Power

Beth is an embroidery and textile artist from East Sussex who has always loved creating, sewing and playing with (or hoarding!) beautiful fabrics. Since completing a degree in Mixed Media Textiles at De Montfort University, Leicester, she has developed her own distinctive style of embroidery art using pre-printed or coloured fabrics to build up landscapes (affectionately known as Stitchscapes) which are then highly embellished with multiple forms of hand embroidery. With a free-style approach and a no-right-or-wrong attitude, her art pieces are becoming more textured and three-dimensional, with an eye for colour and patient attention to detail in every one. What started as a hobby has now turned into a flourishing embroidery business, Dotty Textiles.
