Come and make this fantastic fabric and leather weekend bag. This is ‘the’ perfect overnight bag. It has a sturdy base making it ideal for various weekend outfit changes or maybe all your gym gear. It also has a handy front patch pocket for quick access to your keys or phone.

Please bring your choice of fabric for the main body and lining – see requirements below -all leather parts for your bag are provided and will be cut out ready to be assembled.

You have a choice of leather colours; black, tan, dark green, navy, purple, taupe, bright red or teal. You will also have a choice of metal bag hardware of gold, silver or antique brass.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who would like to learn to sew with leather but you must be able to already use a sewing machine. If you are bringing your own machine please note that we will be using teflon feet. We will have a supply of universal snap on feet but please check if you machine needs a specific type of foot. One of our machines can be used if there are any issues.

What you will need

Please bring your choice of fabric for the main body and lining – see requirements below – all leather parts for your bag are provided and will be cut out ready to be assembled.

 

You need to bring half a metre of 160cm wide medium weight fabric (e.g. denim or canvas) for the bag outer and the same size piece of fabric (e.g. quilt weight cotton) for the lining. 7.5 oz Denim can be supplied by Made and Making at £7 per half metre – please choose the correct ticket option.

Covid precautions

Whilst we continue to live with Covid where at all possible please bring your own sewing machine and sewing kit. Resources are available on-site if necessary. Please view our Covid-19 page for the latest guidance.

Refreshments

Drinks and biscuits will be available but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.

Rebecca Eaton

Rebecca has been making and sewing since she was tiny. She has worked in Paris and London with numerous fashion houses, and taught on a fashion design course in Swindon. She also runs her own handbag label, launched in 2008, and has sold her work all round the world. We're thrilled to have Rebecca running our leather and bag making workshops.
