WE LOVE MEETING QUILTING GROUPS
We can create bespoke workshops just for you or choose from the workshops in our existing repertoire.
Our quilting workshops include things like a Liberty print postage stamp patchwork, a Flip ‘n’ Stitch patchwork cushion or maybe a zip up tray pouch. With Sarah’s extensive experience including regular appearances with her quilting patterns on TV’s Sewing Street, there will be just the thing we can create for your group.
We are able to host events at The Garden Studio, South Downs Nurseries, Brighton Road, Hassocks, BN6 9LY or we can visit your premises/venue upon request.
Group sizes can depend on the date and venue so please just ask when making your enquiry.

POSTAGE STAMP PATCHWORK
Postage stamp patchwork may look fiddly, but we’ll show you a technique that makes it quick, simple and fun to sew. Don’t be daunted by the size, this really is a clever technique!

STAINED GLASS PATCHWORK
This is a simple but stunning effect which can bring really drama to a project but can also create a paired back simplicity. Learn quick piecing techniques to create your background block and then start to build your skills with fusible binding.

STACK AND WHACK QUILT TOP
Discover the fun technique of Stack and Whack to create a kaleidoscope effect. Learn about patterns and repeats to create a unique quilt top.

WINDMILL QUILT TOP
This gorgeous quilt top is a project using a layer cake. Who doesn’t love a layer cake?! Then create a visually stunning effect using the windmill quilting technique.

BARGELLO QUILT TOP
A bargello quilt is a made from lots of strips of fabric that are sewn together is such a way as to create the illusion of movement. In this workshop, you’ll learn the techniques for the classic bargello pattern using a jelly roll.

FLIP ‘N’ STITCH CUSHION OR BAG
The flip n stitch technique involves attaching your patchwork to a base fabric, then turning to the right side and quilting it in place before moving on. We can then make a cushion with lapped zip – or a tote bag.

BINDING & FINISHING TECHNIQUES
Look at the final stage of making a quilt differently. Get our top tips for the traditional binding technique. Discover some quilt finishes that require no binding at all. Have a go at creating a variety of binding solutions and learn about different quilt hanging techniques.

FPP MASTERCLASS
BEGINNERS TO ADVANCED
Foundation paper piecing is a core skill but not one everyone feels confident with it. Sessions can be run to cover beginners to advanced FPP projects and show both the traditional paper method and also the wax paper method which removes the need to pick out all the paper at the end, that last job we all hate.

IMPROV TOTE BAG
Enjoy a fun session of experimentation learning some of the techniques involved in this very creative, free-form method of patchwork. For some of us that might be a bit harder but relax into it and it results in a very free flowing and creative way of working.

A quillow is a quilt that becomes a pillow making it the perfect travel companion! Use it as a quilt one minute and niftily converted to a comfy pillow the next. Makes great gift or a brilliant picnic solution. You’ll make a giant lone star then learn how to transform it into a cushion.

PROJECT POUCH
If you like being organised as much as us you are going to love these Project Pouches! They also look really great pieced and quilted from all your scraps. You will learn the best zip techniques and we’ll also share our tips for sewing with vinyl.

STASH POUCH
Make this useful, fun pouch. With the see-through vinyl sides you can see what’s inside at a glance, making it perfect for storing your stash of fat quarters or yarn. Get all the skills you need to make this pouch including adding interfacing, sewing with vinyl and inserting a zip!

ZIP UP TRAY
This clever zip up tray is perfect as a mobile project pouch or for putting all your frequently used tools in for sewing class! It would also make a great portable jewellery tray or make in a wipe clean liner and use it as a make up tray.

FRAME PURSE
The top of this purse has a sturdy frame which stands open making it perfect sewing projects, crochet or as a make up bag. Build your skills using interfacing and fusible fleece which give the purse structure and you’ll learn how to insert the wire frame too.

You have the choice of making your tub with the outside as a single piece of fabric or patchwork piecing the outside together which is a fab stash busting project! Once you’ve made one you’ll be wanting to make more – and a set would make a wonderful gift!

QUEENIE QUILT FRAME DEMONSTRATION SESSIONS
If your group fancy a trip out – why not come and visit us in the studio?
We can offer a demonstration of the frame and our Juki quilting machine with every member having a quick go.
Then you can enjoy the café and shopping at the fabulous garden centre on site.
