We are taking our very popular and successful beginners patchwork course online.

In our online format you will receive

• A range of introductory technique sessions covering such things as  fabric choices, using your rotary cutter and ruler, sewing the perfect seams and how to press your work.
• Detailed weekly classes taking you through each block and all the techniques.
• Additional classes in constructing the final quilt including machine and hand quilting
• Live check in sessions via zoom

The course will run over 12 weeks with new content released each week starting 23rd October and concluding 22nd Jan 2024 (there will be two week break at Christmas).

There will be recorded video lessons for all of the blocks and construction techniques which you can stop and watch at your leisure.

Plus there will be  live check in sessions (via Zoom) where you will be able to meet your course community face to face, share your successes and challenges and ask any question that springs to mind. The live sessions will be scheduled to occur on different days and times so that everyone has the chance to take part live at some point. Don’t worry if you can’t make the live session. You can submit questions beforehand to be discussed by the tutor/group and the sessions will also be recorded for you to watch later if that works better for you.

So…..have you ever tried patchwork? Dabbled with some simple blocks and really enjoyed it? Attempted some blocks on your own but not been happy with the results? This course will give you all the insight, tips and tricks you need to create great patchwork and learn the essentials of quilting. Not sure patchwork is for you? It can be simple or complicated, traditional or modern, there really is a style to suit everyone.

In this introductory beginners patchwork course you will learn all the basic skills of patchwork and quilting and make a beautiful sampler quilt. Work with curated bundles effortlessly harmonising your scheme or use it as a chance to build your own bundle and play with colour and pattern.

Over the course of your sessions we will show you how to work successfully with a rotary cutter and cutting mat. You will  learn a variety of patchwork techniques including machine piecing, English paper piecing, appliqué, foundation piecing, hand and machine quilting and binding.

A quilt as you go technique is used for this course so you quilt each 12″ block before you join them together. This makes the quilting much easier for a beginner and avoids the need to feed a large quilt through your machine for quilting.

You will make 12 12”blocks in the following designs together with 2 foundation pieced ones to make a 40” x 53” quilt.
